From ancient times, the two Islamic and western civilizations expanded their rule over a large part of the world, and today, they have their dramatic confrontation. This research tries to examine the nature of this conflict, the destructive features and constructive interactions between the two in the existing atmosphere that as the result of social media like Facebook has gathered people from different nationalities and religions. The researcher has had an active participation in Facebook for two years , during which he has collected some documents and conducted interviews about two dominant themes, namely Islamophobia and Roman Islam, and after coding them has carried out Fairclough discourse analysis. The results show that the Roman Islam discourse is much weaker than Islamophobia, and offers a decorated and merciful picture, not of the genuine Islam, but the one supported by the west, paving the way for Islamophobic assaults, and this latter is expressed with a more popular approach to and criticism of the western media and officials

Manner of Representing Characters in Setayesh TV serial Based on Monotheistic Discourse

The Islamic Republic of Iran television is at the core of promoting the Islamic discourse that centers upon monotheism; a role prescribed by the Iranian constitution as well. Meanwhile, the ability of the media and its produced serials in developing their audience's empathy with the fictionalized characters- a special discourse making feature- has directed our study to seek a response to this question that whether the prevalent discourse in serials, including Setayesh as our case study, corresponds to the practical monotheistic discourse. To provide a discursive comparison and evaluation of practical monotheism in the serials, a reference to the verses of the Quran and Tafsir al-Mizan helped to derive these monotheistic commands in terms of practical unity models in six dimensions, namely religious, political, moral, social, economic and ideological. To answer the question, the superstructure representation theory and especially Foucault's discourse theory were used using a combined method of Fairclough, Bashir and Soltani's discourse analysis. The results show that the characters of the specified serial range from semi- monotheistic to fully polytheistic ones, and among these, the less monotheistic characters are depicted in a more pessimistic manner

Dual Space Approach to Cyber harm and Religion: Attitudes and Experiences

    No full text
What is the relationship between pathological study of experiences the Iranian cyberspace users, and their religious and ethical beliefs? Is it possible to locate a significant relationship between different levels of religiousness, and pathological experiences? On the other hand, is there any relationship between attitudes to cyber harm(crime and abnormality) and level of religiousness? Is there a significant relationship among pathological experienceology, attitude-metrics on harm, and level of religiousness of cyberspace users? These are questions which will be discussed in this article. To answer these questions, we need to conceptualize a dual-space approach to virtual harm. Therefore, we will first explain the  dual space paradigm and, within this paradigm, the transmission of physical harm to cyber harm will be considered. Then, data from an online explorative questionnaire will be studied to scrutinize pathological experienceology, pathological attitude-metrics, and level of religiousness. Then the relationship between(1) level of religiousness and pathological experienceology and(2) level of religiousness and pathological attitude-metrics will be studied. We will conclude by presenting a pattern for the three above-mentioned variables before depicting a road map among them. Based on the method for path analysis and rationale of the explorative study, this map could be understood as an explorative path analysis or map for explorative path
